Up to 120 cancer patients per day may be missing out on treatment due to staff shortages, union says

"This staffing crisis has led to at least four cancer treatment machines not being utilised," Damian Ginley, from Siptu's health division, told the committee. He highlighted urgent staffing issues contributing to gaps in cancer treatment.
"In the last 18 months, just 19 full-time roles have been recruited out of 10,208 support staff. The number of healthcare assistants has fallen by 84, despite growing demand for their services," Mr. Ginley noted, pointing out the severe workforce shortages.
