Tom's of Maine toothpaste was found to contain Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a dangerous bacteria, alongside another harmful bacterium, Ralstonia insidiosa, in their manufacturing water.
According to the FDA's November 5 letter, the presence of these bacteria poses a serious health risk, particularly for vulnerable populations such as those with compromised immune systems.
Colgate-Palmolive, the parent company of Tom's of Maine, has not provided an immediate comment regarding the FDA's findings of contamination in their toothpaste products.
Additionally, another product, Wicked Cool! Anticavity Toothpaste, was also flagged for containing Paracoccus yeei, further raising concerns about the hygiene protocols at the manufacturing site.
