"When we inspected Whipps Cross Hospital we were concerned to find people experienced very long waits in the emergency department, resulting in risks to their safety, privacy, and dignity. We weren't assured people were being triaged in a safe and timely way, and we saw some people waited up to 12 hours to be seen by a clinician after being triaged."
"Throughout most of our inspection up to 30 people were waiting in the emergency department to be admitted, with many people being cared for in temporary spaces such as corridors. The impact on care for people with mental health needs was particularly concerning, with some spending up to 72 hours in the emergency department before being given beds."
