Researchers have developed a smart mask that can analyze breath biomarkers using a built-in device, EBCare, making disease detection more accessible and immediate.
Prof Wei Gao stated, 'Our technology can serve as a general breath analysis platform, allowing for various sensors to monitor specific conditions or a blend of them.'
The EBCare device overcomes limitations of existing methods by condensing breath efficiently using materials that lose heat and a cooling hydrogel, enabling real-time analysis.
This mask opens avenues for early diagnosis of lung diseases and condition monitoring, offering more tailored treatment plans through easy breath analysis via an app.
