DiNapoli audit: Medicaid paid claims to providers who were not correctly enrolled

Medicaid Managed Care Organizations paid $1.5 billion in improper and questionable payments to providers not enrolled in Medicaid program, as revealed by State Comptroller DiNapoli's audit.

Audit found MCOs paid $916 million for services by in-network providers without Medicaid enrollment, and $832.5 million for services by providers with denied or withdrawn Medicaid applications.
