Dengue fever is unfortunately having a banner year. Can it be quelled?
Briefly

In the Americas alone, almost 10.4 million suspected cases of dengue were reported to the World Health Organization in 2024, an increase of 232% from the previous year. Countries like Peru have seen record-breaking epidemics, and cases have surged in various other nations like Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Vietnam.
Dengue, once limited to hot and humid regions, has become a year-round global health concern, affecting even previously unaffected areas like Niger, Iran, and parts of the United States. With the spread of the disease exacerbating, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued alerts on the increased risk of dengue virus infections in the U.S. in 2024.
