Dan McQuade died at 43 and is survived by his wife and young son. He received a diagnosis of neuroendocrine cancer at the end of 2024 but maintained enthusiasm and spirit. Colleagues who worked with him for nearly a decade remember him as both a coworker and a close friend. He was authentic and engaging, with relentless curiosity, varied and idiosyncratic interests, and beliefs that were righteous and genuinely held. His connection to his community was deep and meaningful. Colleagues will honor his memory in coming days and will temporarily slow down the site to be with family and friends while curating select stories.
