"All cells, to some degree, release fragments of DNA called cell-free DNA (cfDNA) into their environment," Pollard, who is also a co-founder of Resonant, told Fox News Digital in an email.
"While the majority of patients with mild cognitive impairment who did not develop Alzheimer's disease within the study timeframe started to exhibit increased neuron cfDNA, two did not," said Pollard.
