"In the beginning, there was CNN. In 2022 came CNN+ for almost exactly a month. In 2023, CNN Max was born, and a month from tomorrow, it will die. In its place, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced, another news streaming product with yet another name will rise: CNN All Access. Long may it reign before it too is also inevitably shut down in an increasingly chaotic and ever-consolidating media ecosystem!"
"The new subscription service will launch October 28 and cost $7 a month or $70 annually. It will offer several (though not complete) livestreams of certain CNN programming from both U.S. and international markets; on-demand access to over 1,000 hours of CNN content, including its Originals and Films sub-brands; online-exclusive new programming from the news organization's journalists; and live events and access to CNN.com's paywalled content."
"For starters, it won't even offer a full livestream of CNN, but "select" programming. And then there's the fact that this one will be the company's third big streaming play in about three and a half years, but it feels like the 15th thanks to its parent company's seemingly interminable state of flux."
CNN All Access will launch October 28 with pricing at $7 per month or $70 annually and a promotional annual price of $42 for early sign-ups. The service will provide select livestreams from U.S. and international CNN programming, more than 1,000 hours of on-demand content including Originals and Films, online-exclusive journalist programming, live events, and access to CNN.com's paywalled content. Existing pay-TV subscribers will receive the streaming product free, while a Basic tier subscription is required to access paywalled website articles. The service will not offer a full continuous CNN livestream and follows multiple recent CNN streaming relaunches amid corporate instability.
