Briefly

The federal government and 17 states filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google for monopolizing three digital advertising technology markets, violating the Sherman Act. After a bench trial, the court concluded that while there was insufficient evidence for a market on open-web display advertiser ad networks, Google was liable for maintaining monopoly power in the open-web display publisher ad server and ad exchange markets. Additionally, the court found Google unlawfully tied these products together. A schedule for remedy proceedings is forthcoming.
The Court finds that Plaintiffs have failed to prove that there is a relevant market for open-web display advertiser ad networks, yet established Google violated Section 2 of the Sherman Act.
Having found Google liable for monopolizing the ad server and ad exchange markets, the Court will proceed to determine appropriate remedies for these violations.
