Max's ad-supported tier is losing CNN and the Bleacher Report
Briefly

Max has decided to eliminate the CNN and Bleacher Report Sports add-ons from its ad-supported streaming tier, which is priced at $9.99/month. Subscribers to the cheaper tier will need to upgrade to either the Standard or Premium tiers to access these live sports and news offerings. This shift is seen as a strategic move to emphasize live sports content while responding to increasing competition from streamers like Peacock and Netflix. The decision follows an analysis of user engagement with sports content over the past year.
"We believe that the best place for that content for now is within the Standard and Premium tiers," Perrette said. "This update ensures that subscribers can continue to enjoy that coveted access within Max, while also enabling ongoing investment in our premium sports and news portfolio."
In a statement about the pivot, WBD head of global streaming and games JB Perrette said that Max's new plan of action came after a year of assessing how users were engaging with sports content on the platform.
