The FNAF movie was Blumhouse's most successful movie of all time based on box office performance, outpacing M. Night Shyamalan's Split.
'I think that they have a lot to figure out as far as where to take the story because there's a lot of options based on the various formats of the game and story and lore,' he said.
FNAF 2 is expected to bring back Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson to reprise their roles, while the movie will no doubt add new cast members as well.
The reveal of when FNAF 2 may begin filming comes not long after series creator Scott Cawthon released four pages from the movie's script on social media.
