Don Lemon was arrested by federal agents in Los Angeles over his coverage of a protest at a St. Paul church. He was released without bail and spoke defiantly outside the courthouse. He immediately went live on his Lemon LIVE at 5 podcast and thanked former CNN colleagues for their public support. He urged journalists to resist corporate ownership influence and demanded that media companies stop interfering in newsrooms. He named Warner Brothers Discovery, CBS/Paramount, David Ellison, and Bari Weiss as examples and called for journalists to be allowed to practice journalism independently. He extolled independent media, said journalists are essential to saving democracy, and urged confronting bullies rather than acquiescing.
