1 Movie, 2 Opinions: Melania Trump's Flick Gets Praised by Fox News and Mocked by MS NOW and CNN
"That shocked the Hollywood press, even if the movie still has a way to go before it covers the $75 million that Amazon plowed into it. Critics hated Melania about as much as the Grammy attendees hated President Donald Trump on Sunday night. But on Fox News it got a rave review from the president's former press secretary on Monday, with Kayleigh McEnany saying her mom told her the movie theater was electric when she went to see it."
"She said not only was the theater packed, it was standing room only if you could try to sneak into the back of the theater, McEnany said on Outnumbered. People were cheering through it, they were excited, it was interactive people interplaying with the film. McEnany also pointed out it was the best debut for a non-concert documentary in more than a decade."
"Her co-host Emily Compagno agreed with the electric assessment. She said Melania was an explosive hit that speaks volumes to how disconnected coastal elite critics are with the rest of America. She has the support of over 80 million Americans, Compagno said. So those critics in Hollywood can just stop it. The other two major cable channels were less enthusiastic. MediasTouch podcaster Adam Mockler joked Melania was a great first date during an appearance on CNN's Table for Five on Saturday."
Melania Trump’s documentary opened with more than $7 million at the box office against a $75 million Amazon investment. Critical response was largely negative, with widespread panning from Hollywood critics. Fox News hosts celebrated packed, electric screenings, with Kayleigh McEnany describing standing-room-only audiences, cheering, interactive reactions, and calling it the best non-concert documentary debut in over a decade. Emily Compagno labeled the film an explosive hit and claimed support from over 80 million Americans. Other cable outlets were less enthusiastic, with CNN guests joking about empty theaters and a podcaster saying the film was "quite literally bombing." Reactions split sharply across media outlets.
