Roku is experimenting with autoplay video advertisements that play before users access the Roku OS home screen. Reports from users indicate that ads, like for 'Moana 2', appear without prior consent. While Roku acknowledged the tests are a part of their innovation strategy, they did not confirm whether these autoplay ads would be permanent. Customer reactions have been overwhelmingly negative, with many users threatening to abandon their Roku devices due to the intrusive ads, highlighting the fine line between advertising and user experience in streaming.

Roku's business has and will always require continuous testing and innovation across design, navigation, content, and our first-rate advertising products.
