Meta sues 'nudify' app-maker that ran 87k+ Facebook ads
Briefly

Meta has initiated legal action against Joy Timeline HK Limited for promoting a nudify app called Crush AI on its platforms, Facebook and Instagram. The app allegedly uses AI to generate non-consensual nude images and has reportedly placed tens of thousands of ads that violate Meta's advertising policies. Despite multiple enforcement actions by Meta, including removing ads and banning accounts, the app maker persisted in its advertising. The lawsuit indicates this trend poses a continuous risk, targeting users in several countries including the US and the UK.
Given the steps taken by the Defendant to create multiple accounts to advertise the Nudify Apps in direct contravention of Meta's Terms and Policies ... it is clear that unless restrained by a competent court, the Defendant will continue to publish such Violating Ads on Facebook and Instagram.
Meta has continually removed ads and shut down pages and accounts promoting these apps, but Joy Timeline HK continued running NSFW ads in violation of Meta's policies.
