Meta has removed an unauthorized advertisement featuring Jamie Lee Curtis that used her likeness without consent after she publicly addressed CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Instagram. Curtis expressed her frustrations over the misleading content, which she described as a fake commercial that misrepresented her opinions. Despite attempting to reach Zuckerberg privately, she resorted to an open letter to her followers, emphasizing her commitment to integrity and the need to control her own narrative, particularly regarding how her image was utilized.
It's come to this @zuck, Hi. We have never met. My name is Jamie Lee Curtis and I have gone through every proper channel to ask you and your team to take down this totally AI fake commercial for some bullsh-t that I didn't authorize, agree to, or endorse.
If I have a brand, besides being an actor and author and advocate, it is that I am known for telling the truth and saying it like it is and for having integrity. This (MIS)use of my images... diminishes my opportunities to actually speak my truth.
