Google is deploying AI Overviews in local search results that often replace the traditional three-business local pack. These AI Overviews can show only one or two businesses and sometimes omit call buttons, reducing profile visits and eliminating many phone calls. Affected businesses have reported substantial visibility and traffic declines, with some seeing drops around 50% or more for Google Business Profile and local listings. Paid ad clicks have increased in areas where AI Overviews appear, shifting clicks away from organic local results.
