China's newest AI model Manus is dividing opinion over DeepSeek comparisons. Here's what to know.
Briefly

Chinese researchers have unveiled Manus AI, touted as the world's first fully autonomous AI agent capable of executing tasks independently. Developed by the startup Monica, a subsidiary of The Butterfly Effect, Manus can carry out complex actions, such as building websites and analyzing stock trends, with minimal human intervention. However, while some view its introduction as a groundbreaking moment for AI in China, there are skeptics who highlight potential shortcomings and privacy concerns regarding its capabilities and implementation.
‘This isn’t just another chatbot or workflow tool,’ Yichao 'Peak' Ji, cofounder of Manus, said in the Wednesday video. ‘It’s a completely autonomous agent that bridges the gap between conception and execution.’
Manus can analyze stock trends, scrape data from the web, and even generate interactive websites from scratch, as stated by its creators during the launch.
