Tomorrow's consumers are growing up on ChatGPT
"ChatGPT is quickly becoming a regular habit, not just a novelty. The average user opens the app approximately 13 times a month, putting it on par with X and ahead of Reddit, according to Sensor Tower. Meanwhile, 57% of parents of 11- and 12-year-olds say their child already has their own smartphone, according to Pew Research Center, giving the youngest teens direct access to AI tools without parental mediation."
"Data is from the December 2025 Pew Research Center report titled "Teens, Social Media and AI Chatbots 2025." 1,458 US teens ages 13-17 were surveyed online during September 25-October 9, 2025. Respondents were recruited via their parents through Ipsos KnowledgePanel, a probability-based web panel recruited primarily by address-based sampling. The survey was weighted to be representative of US teens ages 13 to 17 who live with their parents by age, gender, race and ethnicity, household income, and other categories."
59% of US teens ages 13–17 report having used ChatGPT. The average ChatGPT user opens the app about 13 times per month, comparable to X and ahead of Reddit (Sensor Tower). Fifty-seven percent of parents of 11- and 12-year-olds say their child already has a smartphone, providing direct access to AI tools for the youngest teens. Data stem from a December 2025 Pew Research Center survey of 1,458 U.S. teens (Sept. 25–Oct. 9, 2025) with a +/-3.3 percentage-point margin of error. Marketers should benchmark brand AI presence against the 59% and plan youth marketing spend accordingly.
