TikTok has returned to U.S. app stores following President Trump's decision to delay a ban on the app, originally scheduled for implementation. The ban was postponed for 75 days, allowing TikTok to continue operating in the U.S., where it boasts around 170 million users. Trump's directive clarified that Apple and Google would not incur fines for maintaining the app, essential given TikTok's popularity as the second most downloaded app in the U.S. during 2024, with over 52 million downloads.
Trump's executive order last month delayed the ban of TikTok for 75 days, allowing China's ByteDance-owned company to continue its operations in the U.S. temporarily.
The companies, which run mobile application stores or digital marketplaces where users can browse, download and update apps, would not face penalties for keeping the TikTok app up and running.
