The poll revealed a significant disparity in political views, as TikTok users, especially younger ones, were notably more sympathetic towards Russia and China compared to traditional news consumers.
Among TikTok users, only 28.1% agreed that China is a dictatorship, starkly lower than 57% of newspaper readers and 56.5% of public TV viewers.
Only 13.6% of TikTok users believed it was important for Western support for Ukraine against Russia, in comparison to 40.2% of national newspaper readers.
The survey indicated that young users, particularly those relying on TikTok for news, might not only struggle with information discernment but could also develop more sympathetic attitudes towards authoritarian regimes.
