CapCut ban update: ByteDance video editor is back for U.S. users, but it's still not in Apple and Google app stores
Briefly

On January 19, TikTok and other ByteDance apps were banned in the U.S. under the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act. Although this initially meant that apps like CapCut were removed from app stores, recent updates showed that users who already had CapCut installed could access it again. Following a temporary ban extension by President Trump, CapCut resumed functionality, enabling users to create and edit videos again, particularly on mobile devices that had the app prior to the ban.
When the law went into effect, Apple and Google had to pull TikTok and other ByteDance apps, including CapCut, from their app stores in the U.S.
CapCut users in the U.S. found the app functional again, receiving messages like "CapCut is back in the U.S.! You can continue to create, edit, and discover all the things you love on CapCut."
