Joshua Zirkzee, Manchester United's Dutch striker in his second season, currently wears the No 11 shirt since joining from Bologna for £36.54m in 2024. The 24-year-old has publicly stated his preference for the No 23 shirt number, which is presently worn by left-back Luke Shaw. Shaw has held the number since the 2015-16 season after transferring from Southampton, where he also wore No 23. The number was previously worn by Tom Cleverley until 2015.
