Claudio Echeverri, a promising 19-year-old midfielder from Argentina, has been loaned from Manchester City to Bayer Leverkusen for the 2025-26 season. Echeverri aims to continue his development under Erik ten Hag in Germany after making minimal first-team appearances for City. Manchester City had signed him from River Plate for £12.5 million in January 2024. Coach Pep Guardiola is also considering further squad changes ahead of the transfer deadline, with potential departures including goalkeeper Ederson and defender Manuel Akanji.
Bayer Leverkusen have finalised a deal to take Manchester City's Claudio Echeverri on loan for the 2025-26 season. The 19-year-old midfielder, regarded as one of Argentina's brightest prospects, will link up with Erik ten Hag's side in Germany as he continues his development away from the Etihad.
City originally signed the teenager from River Plate in January 2024 for £12.5 million, but Pep Guardiola and his staff have opted to send him out on loan to gain more regular first-team football.
Guardiola open to more departures. Echeverri's exit may not be the last piece of outgoing business at City before the transfer deadline on 1 September.
Galatasaray have enquired about Swiss defender Manuel Akanji. However, any deal would depend on both a suitable offer and the player.
