Victor Lindelof has expressed his need for more game minutes after a season marked by injury and limited involvement at Manchester United. With his contract expiring in June, the 31-year-old defender has appeared only 14 times this season, with minimal impact during the games he participated in. His recent performances for Sweden during the international break provided a rare opportunity to play 90 minutes, highlighting his frustration with a lack of first-team football at United where he has fallen down the selection order behind several other defenders.
"It's been a while. It felt good. It's nice to play 90 minutes. I need minutes," Lindelof confessed to reporters after Sweden's 5-1 win over Northern Ireland on Tuesday.
"We play with very high intensity in the national team, so it's fun to hold for 90 minutes. It's a tough and demanding way to play football," Lindelof explained.
Lindelof has turned out just 14 times for United this term - only two of which have been Premier League starts - emphasizing his struggle for playing time.
Even Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are all above Lindelof in the pecking order, increasing his frustrations at Manchester United.
