Man United vs West Ham: Amorim 'angry' after Premier League draw
""We tried to defend far from the goal all the time, because we knew they wanted to make crosses, get a corner and [strike] lucky," said Amorim, analysing the equaliser. "It happened - it was a long ball, they win a second ball against three guys of ours. We cannot let a team that is so much taller than us have a corner when the ball [came from] the goalkeeper."
"United had the better of the game against their third-bottom opponents and hit a post through Bruno Fernandes's first-half shot, but the 20-time champions have won six of their first 15 games of the season in all competitions and have drawn three and won one of their last five matches. "I'm frustrated and angry," said Amorim. "That's it. It's about working again and trying to win the next one."
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham, with Diogo Dalot scoring in the 58th minute and Soungoutou Magassa equalising seven minutes from time. The draw left United eighth and winless in two home matches, dropping out of fifth-place contention. Defensive issues included defending far from goal, conceding a corner from a long goalkeeper clearance, and losing second balls against a taller West Ham side. United had earlier hit the post and generally dominated play but lacked control in later stages. Inconsistency, second-half lapses and a need for more goals were underlined. United face Wolves next.
