Man United name Michael Carrick interim boss until end of season
"Manchester United have appointed former player Michael Carrick as their interim boss until the end of the season, the club confirmed Tuesday. Carrick is set to take training for the first time on Wednesday ahead of the Manchester derby at Old Trafford on Saturday. The 44-year-old, who beat Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ruud van Nistelrooy to the job, will be assisted by former England No.2 Steve Holland as well as Jonathan Woodgate, Travis Binnion and Jonny Evans."
"Carrick has done the job before, taking charge of three games during the 2021-22 campaign. Made caretaker in November 2021 after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked, he oversaw wins over Villarreal and Arsenal, and a draw with Chelsea. He showed himself to be comfortable making big decisions by dropping Cristiano Ronaldo to the bench for the game at Stamford Bridge."
