Mendy stated in court that his team-mates Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Riyad Mahrez lent him money to support his legal expenses and family, revealing the financial crisis he faced.
Mendy's agent testified that he was assured by Manchester City’s Chief Football Operations Officer that all suspended wages would be repaid once the trial concluded.
Despite being cleared of multiple charges in 2023, the club justified withholding Mendy's pay due to his inability to fulfill contractual obligations.
