The Minnesota Twins aim to snap a three-series losing streak in Chicago after a 9-7 win despite the pitching staff allowing 12 hits and eight walks. Rookie right-hander Mick Abel is expected to make his Twins debut after being acquired in the trade that sent closer Jhoan Duran to Philadelphia; Abel is 2-2 with a 5.04 ERA. Royce Lewis provided a grand slam, made a key bases-loaded defensive play, and credited adjustments with coaches for improved results. The White Sox plan to start Davis Martin, who recently delivered his first quality start since June 6 and earned praise from his manager.
"It's an exciting opportunity," Abel said. "I'm just ready whenever."
"I think every time I come up with the bases loaded, I'm thinking homer. I can't lie to you," Lewis said. "I'm looking for that homer. It's nice, it's tasty and it's fun."
"Honestly, just really good work today. I got with the coaches and they helped me out with some things, which was awesome," he said. "Obviously, the results aren't supposed to come very fast, but today they did, and we're appreciative of that, for sure."
