"With Blake, one thing that's really exciting for us is, as much success as he's had, we feel like there's more in there and a lot of upside beyond what he's done to this point and the impact that can have on us in our quest to win a World Series this year and as many years as we can see out."
"Looking back over the years, we've competed against Blake a lot. And you know the old adage, if you can't beat him, just have him join us. We couldn't beat him, so we're going to have him join us and help us win a World Series next year and into the future. With that, it is our pleasure to introduce the newest member of the Dodgers, Blake Snell."
Blake Snell signed a five-year, $182 million contract with the Dodgers on Nov. 30, 2024, and was introduced at a press conference inside the Stadium Club on Dec. 3. Agent Scott Boras and Dodgers executives Andrew Friedman and Brandon Gomes joined him on the dais. Friedman said internal planning aimed at positioning the team to win the 2025 World Series repeatedly pointed to Snell, noting familiarity since Snell was 18, his past success, and perceived remaining upside. Snell had won two Cy Young Awards, was 76-58 with a 3.19 ERA in 211 starts across nine seasons, and had pitched in the World Series with the Tampa Bay Rays against the Dodgers.
