Major League Soccer (MLS) has confirmed a matchup against Liga MX for the 2025 All-Star game, to be held on July 23 at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. This game marks a continuation of their rivalry, as it will be the fourth meeting between the two leagues in this context. MLS, having previously been unbeaten until 2024, is seeking to enhance its league growth and competitiveness through more frequent play against Liga MX teams, reflecting a strategic focus on this North American rivalry.
MLS executive vice president Camilo Durana emphasized, "When we conducted a study, it was really about how we grow MLS and what are the things that we need to do to expedite that growth. And one of them was proving the quality of our play to fans against the quality of play that is very referential."
Durana stated, "It's been a very intentional development of a rivalry between our Leagues that helps us grow at expedited rates. Across everything we're doing with Liga MX."
