Geoff Hartlieb has cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Rockies and has accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque to continue improving his pitching skills with a new arsenal.
Hartlieb showcased improved velocity on his pitches during his short stint with the Rockies, including a career-high 97.1 mph fastball, a faster sinker, slider, and a new cutter.
Although Hartlieb struggled in his recent MLB appearances with the Rockies, his track record in Triple-A has been more stable, with a 4.21 ERA in 205 1/3 innings and a solid strikeout percentage.
Given the Rockies' bullpen struggles and potential trades, Hartlieb may have another shot at the big leagues due to his evolving pitching skills and the team's need for reliable relievers.
