Report: New York Mets acquire starter Freddy Peralta from Brewers
"He finished 5th in National League Cy Young voting last season after posting a 2.70 ERA and a NL-best 17 wins over 33 starts. For a rotation that ranked 18th in the league in starting pitcher ERA (4.13), the addition of Peralta gives New York's starting rotation a much better outlook heading into 2026. He will join Nolan McLean, David Peterson, Clay Holmes, Sean Manaea, Kodai Senga, and Jonah Tong as starting pitching candidates for the Opening Day roster."
"Along with Peralta, the Brewers will also be sending SP/RP Tobias Myers to New York. After spending the majority of 2024 as a starter, Myers worked in a hybrid role last year, bouncing between Triple-A and the big league club. He pitched to a 3.55 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 50 2/3 innings during the regular season and made one appearance during the NLCS against the Dodgers."
Freddy Peralta was traded to the New York Mets from the Milwaukee Brewers, joining recent Mets acquisitions. Peralta compiled a 70-42 record, 3.59 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 11.1 K/9 across 211 appearances and finished fifth in NL Cy Young voting with a 2.70 ERA and 17 wins last season. The Brewers also sent SP/RP Tobias Myers to New York. The Mets sent prospects INF/OF Jett Williams and SP Brandon Sproat to Milwaukee. The trade improves a rotation that ranked 18th in starting pitcher ERA (4.13) and creates multiple Opening Day pitching candidates.
