Red Sox Sign Abraham Toro To Minor League Deal
Briefly

The Boston Red Sox have signed free agent infielder Abraham Toro to a minor league contract, providing him with an opportunity at major league spring training. Toro, a former prospect for the Astros, had a promising start in 2021 but struggled in subsequent seasons, particularly in 2022. Despite inconsistent big league performance, his strong Triple-A stats and versatility as a switch-hitter could be beneficial for the Red Sox as they have weaknesses in the infield.
Toro, who turned 28 last month, was a well-regarded prospect with the Astros who has at times flashed some of that potential in the majors.
While Toro has yet to produce in the big leagues (.220/.285/.353), he's spent the majority of his time in pitchers' parks like T-Mobile and the Coliseum.
