Red Sox, Dalton Guthrie Agree To Minor League Deal

The Red Sox have signed infielder/outfielder Dalton Guthrie to a minor league contract. Guthrie has played in limited roles for the Phillies in the past two seasons, but has performed well with a .344 batting average and a 16.1% walk rate. He has also shown versatility in playing multiple positions. He will join the Red Sox' bench competition and add a right-handed bat to the team.
The Red Sox agreed to a minor league contract with infielder/outfielder Dalton Guthrie.
Guthrie has spent time in the MLB with the Phillies and has shown decent performance in his limited appearances. He has a solid .289 batting average in Triple-A and has demonstrated good contact skills and defensive versatility. Guthrie will now try to work his way back to the big leagues with the Red Sox.
Guthrie has played at least 582 innings at each of shortstop, second base, third base and center field.
