Skip Schumaker is the Rangers' primary internal candidate to succeed Bruce Bochy, Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said. Young began a formal interview process focused on internal candidates and indicated no external candidates have been pursued. Schumaker, 45, was the 2023 NL Manager of the Year with the Miami Marlins and agreed not to return for 2025 after a 62-100 2024 season. Schumaker was hired by Texas in November and remains under contract through October. Seven other MLB teams are seeking managers, and Young said he is not overly concerned about outside interest in Schumaker.
