Padres, Jose Iglesias Agree To Minor League Deal
Briefly

Jose Iglesias has officially signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres, including an invitation to big league camp. After not playing in the majors during 2023, Iglesias had a remarkable resurgence in 2024, joining the Mets mid-season and achieving strong offensive numbers over 85 games. With his successful comeback, Iglesias aims to solidify his place in Major League Baseball once again and contribute to the Padres following a season spent mainly in the minors.
The Padres and free agent infielder Jose Iglesias have agreed to terms on a contract, reports Robert Murray of FanSided. Terms aren't yet known.
Iglesias, 35, enjoyed a tremendous comeback season in 2024 after not appearing in the majors at all in 2023.
Originally signed to a minor league deal by the Mets, Iglesias was summoned to the big leagues in late May as a scuffling Mets club shuffled up a roster that had produced a 24-33 record.
The 12-year veteran went on to appear in 85 games and slash .337/.381/.448 in 291 turns at the plate.
