OTM Open Thread 4/25: Mediocre League Baseball
Briefly

As of April 25, 2025, the American League shows a clustered performance with 11 teams winning between 12 and 15 games, indicating a mediocre start to the season. In contrast, the National League has only four teams in that range, yet five outperforming any AL club. This disparity signifies a troubling era for Major League Baseball, worsened by the expanded playoff system, suggesting that many AL teams will likely remain competitive in the postseason throughout the season.
This is MLB's mediocrity era - exacerbated by the totally unnecessary expanded playoff system - and it's particularly bad in the AL.
In the National League, there are only four teams between the 12 and 15 win mark, while there are five teams that have won more games than any AL club.
