Nats send Lane Thomas to the Guardians ahead of MLB trade deadline
Briefly

During his time in Washington, Thomas established himself as both an everyday big leaguer and a clubhouse leader for the Nationals, who were in Arizona preparing to face the Diamondbacks. He arrived in 2021, early in the franchise's sweeping rebuild.
Thomas said, 'I think, hopefully, the guys that I've played behind trusted me to play out there in right field and earned the trust of the coaches over time. That's what I'm proud of. I've been in the lineup for the last two years straight and showed up every day.'
In the trade deal, Washington received Clemmey, Ramirez, and Tena, three of the top 30 prospects in Cleveland's system. Clemmey, a standout pitcher, had 97 strikeouts and a 4.67 ERA at the Guardians' low Class A affiliate.
