MLB insider pours cold water on Blue Jays chances of reuniting with Bo Bichette
"Throughout this offseason, Toronto Blue Jays fans have been carefully monitoring the progress on the potential reunion with Bo Bichette in free agency. As a beloved fan favourite in Toronto and what he has accomplished with the franchise during the past seven seasons, who wouldn't want an elite hitter back to continue wreaking havoc on the opposition on a daily basis. Even with the recent signing of Japanese star Kazuma Okamoto, it shouldn't hinder the Blue Jays from still being in the mix for Bichette."
"On a recent episode of Foul Territory, Rosenthal suggested that it is increasingly unlikely that the Blue Jays will re-sign Bichette. Rosenthal sees Kazuma Okamoto playing third for Toronto with Ernie Clement at second base and Andrés Giménez at short. If Bichette returns, Clement could be squeezed out of playing time as a result, which Rosenthal doesn't see will happen."
Odds of the Toronto Blue Jays re-signing Bo Bichette have decreased during the offseason. Kazuma Okamoto projects to play third base while Andrés Giménez expects to handle shortstop and Ernie Clement would occupy second base, potentially limiting Clement's everyday opportunities if Bichette returned. The preferred large acquisition alternative is Kyle Tucker. Many fans would accept Clement shifting to a super‑utility backup role to retain Bichette because Bichette offers a higher offensive ceiling, including a near‑.300 batting average, 20-plus home runs, 100-plus RBIs, and consistent clutch production. The roster configuration would impact playing time distribution across the infield.
