The new and unprecedented rule changes enacted by MLB have proven to be a net positive; however, the league is continuing to explore avenues that keep improving the sport.
MLB is looking to test an automated ball-strike challenge system during the 2025 Spring Training to determine the system’s viability at the Major League level going forward.
There is some belief around the game that requiring starting pitchers to go at least six innings could be a panacea, although logical exceptions will be made.
The league has also discussed limiting the size of pitching staffs and implementing a double-hook DH to address the dwindling importance of starting pitchers.
