Poppen, 30, signed a minor league deal with the Mariners in January. The right-handed pitcher had a minor league journey through various teams after being drafted by the Twins from Harvard.
Poppen had successful stints at different levels up to Triple-A but struggled in his most recent campaign with El Paso where he posted his worst numbers yet.
Despite a solid spring training performance, Poppen's Triple-A struggles with Tacoma Rainiers led to his quick release from the Mariners organization.
