Injured Springer sits out Blue Jays' Game 4 win
"LOS ANGELES -- Blue Jays star George Springer sat out Toronto's 6-2 win in Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday after leaving the previous night's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers with right side discomfort. Springer, 36, suffered the injury on a swing in the seventh inning of Game 3, exiting not long after calling for the athletic trainer."
"Springer underwent an MRI, but the team wasn't forthcoming about the results, with manager John Schneider indicating only that Springer was "hour-to-hour." "I think swinging will be the key to kind of determine if he's in there or not," Schneider said earlier Tuesday, not long before the lineup was announced. "But he was the first one here, a lot of treatment, a lot of work, and George is going to do everything he can to be ready.""
George Springer did not play in Toronto's 6-2 Game 4 win after exiting Game 3 with right-side discomfort following a swing. Springer, 36, underwent an MRI but the team provided only that he was "hour-to-hour." Manager John Schneider said swinging will be the key to determining Springer's availability and praised Springer's treatment efforts and work ethic. Springer has been a postseason offensive leader with four home runs and an .884 OPS this month. Bo Bichette served as designated hitter in Game 4, and Springer's status for the remainder of the series remains unclear.
