Graterol Opens Up About Injury Battle
""Last year was a crazy year for me," Graterol said. "I never gave up, I always stay strong. I thank God my wife, my mom and my daughter were there next to me to push me and then get up, keep my head up. Yeah, last year was my biggest challenge. Yeah, that was a big challenge for me, like all year.""
""Yes, I mean, I feel way better [than] last year," Graterol said. "I'm so happy to feel like that. And I feel healthier. I lost a lot of pounds, too. Like 20 lbs right now. So, I feel great.""
Brusdar Graterol credited his wife, mother and daughter for helping him persevere through a challenging, injury-plagued year. He reports feeling much healthier after losing about 20 pounds and believes he is in better form than last season. Graterol underwent shoulder surgery in November 2024 to repair a torn labrum and did not throw a single pitch last season. The Dodgers will place him on the injured list to begin the upcoming season. Graterol signed a $2.8 million contract to avoid arbitration and will be a free agent next offseason. His career numbers include a 2.69 ERA, 158 ERA+, 138 strikeouts, 3.19 FIP and a 1.03 WHIP in 181 innings across 178 games since 2020. If he stays healthy, he projects to bolster the Dodgers' bullpen.
