"Months removed from his announcement, during an appearance on the Deep Left Field podcast, he has unveiled his plans for his post-playing career. "Believe me, broadcasting, if I'm going to stay in baseball, that's the avenue I'm going to do," Stripling told host Mike Wilner. "But kind of what I already touched on - I'm just not ready to be that busy. I was just so busy for 15 years.""
"After his time in Oakland, Stripling called it quits in May of 2025. "After 13 seasons and full of tremendous pride and gratitude, it's time to hang up the cleats. I never could have imagined the experiences and memories I'd be a part of. They exceeded every hope that my younger self could have dreamt for my baseball career," Stripling wrote in his announcement."
"The righty has never been a pitcher who impressed with his velocity or stuff, but Stripling managed to give the Dodgers five quality years' worth of pitching, racking up 4.2 bWAR over that span and making 59 starts. In 2020, the Dodgers traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays, where he would continue to serve as a reliable arm, though he struggled in 2023 and 2024 during stints with the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's."
Ross Stripling pitched nine MLB seasons as a starter and reliever, emerging as an underdog after breaking onto the scene in 2016. He delivered roughly five quality years for the Dodgers, totaling 4.2 bWAR and 59 starts, before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in 2020. He remained a reliable arm but struggled during 2023 and 2024 stints with the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's. He retired in May 2025, expressed pride and gratitude for his career, and intends to move into broadcasting and media while preferring a less busy post-playing schedule.
