Dodgers' Teoscar Hernandez Wants to Represent Country in World Baseball Classic
""Yeah, for sure. Representing your country is the best thing you can do as an athlete," H ernandez said. "That's the ultimate step. I won in the Winter League in the Dominican, I won in the minor leagues, I won in the World Series. So now I want to win in the WBC.""
"Hernandez will look to take on a bigger role in the upcoming tournament, as he had another solid season in Dodger blue in 2025. He batted .247 with a .738 OPS, hitting 25 home runs and driving in 89 RBIs. He also showed up in the postseason with some huge performances, notably hitting a game-winning, three-run homer against the Phillies in the opening game of the NLDS and driving in a run during the Dodgers' comeback win in Game 7 of the World Series."
Teoscar Hernandez intends to represent the Dominican Republic in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Hernandez has been with the Los Angeles Dodgers since the start of 2024 and contributed to recent World Series runs. He has championship experience in the Winter League, minor leagues, and MLB and aims to add a WBC title. Hernandez played a minor role for the Dominican Republic in the 2023 WBC with seven plate appearances across four games as the team went 2-for-2 and was eliminated in group play. Hernandez posted a .247 average with a .738 OPS, 25 home runs and 89 RBIs in 2025 and delivered key postseason moments. The Dominican Republic drew Venezuela, the Netherlands, Israel and Nicaragua for pool play; the tournament begins March 4, 2026.
