"His last pitch as a member of the Dodgers helped them escape a bases-loaded jam in the 12th inning of Game 3 of the 2025 World Series. The United States will play in Pool B for the 2026 WBC, which is scheduled for March 5-17. Team USA is looking to bounce back after losing to Japan in the 2023 championship game."
Clayton Kershaw retired after 18 seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers and will pitch for Team USA at the 2026 World Baseball Classic, his first appearance. He withdrew from the 2023 roster after failing to secure an insurance policy. Manager Mark DeRosa extended the invitation and Kershaw accepted, throwing lightly this offseason to prepare. He is not pitching in the upcoming MLB season and plans to be available for roughly 10 days. Pitching in the WBC gives Kershaw a chance at an international title to complement his Hall of Fame credentials. Team USA will play in Pool B, March 5-17.
