"Waguespack allowed eight runs (four earned) through 16 innings. He struck out 23 of 68 opponents (34%) but also issued 11 walks. Waguespack doesn't have huge velocity despite the big swing-and-miss rates. He's averaging 92 mph on his fastball while working in the mid-80s with his cutter and changeup."
Jacob Waguespack agreed to a minor league contract with Milwaukee and was assigned to the Arizona complex. He was pitching at Triple-A Nashville when Milwaukee granted his release on May 4, apparently to test whether an MLB opportunity would appear. After no MLB offer materialized, he rejoined Milwaukee on a new minor league deal. The 32-year-old right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2024 and split that season between Triple-A affiliates of the Rays and Phillies. He posted a 2.45 ERA across 33 combined innings but did not receive an MLB look. He opened the current year in Triple-A and, in his recent work, allowed eight runs with four earned over 16 innings, striking out 23 of 68 opponents while walking 11. His fastball averages 92 mph, with his cutter and changeup in the mid-80s.
