Braves News: Bullpen shake-up, bats cold in Philly, and more
Briefly

Atlanta moved right-handers John Brebbia and Nathan Wiles to the major league bullpen and optioned Wander Suero and Austin Cox to Triple-A Gwinnett. Suero and Cox had pitched the previous day, prompting recall of Triple-A relievers. Chris Sale is expected to be reinstated from the injured list Saturday, so additional moves are likely. The Braves lost 2-1 to the Phillies despite recording 12 hits. In the minors, Ian Mejia excelled for Columbus. Multiple doctors recommended Tommy John surgery for Giants reliever Randy Rodriguez. Nationals' Drew Millas required season-ending surgery for a fractured, dislocated finger. Bogaerts and Garcia face foot and elbow surgeries; Buehler was released.
The Atlanta Braves completed yet another bullpen shuffle ahead of Friday's contest in Philadelphia. Right-handers John Brebbia and Nathan Wiles joined Atlanta, while fellow righty Wander Suero and southpaw Austin Cox were demoted to Triple-A Gwinnett. Suero and Cox both appeared in Thursday's game, so the Braves now turn to the guys who have been working in Triple-A.
This likely isn't the last of the roster moves, though, since Chris Sale is expected to be reinstated from the injured list on Saturday. Despite recording 12 hits, the Braves' offense was quiet at the wrong moments, making Friday's matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies a 2-1 loss.
The San Diego Padres placed shortstop Xander Bogaerts on the 10-day injured list due to a nondisplaced fracture in his left foot. The club expects him to be back by the postseason. Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Yimi Garcia will undergo season-ending elbow surgery. He is expected to be ready for Spring Training. The Boston Red Sox released right-hander Walker Buehler. He will be postseason eligible should he join another club before September 1.
